Message from GetUp
Scott Morrison, Anne Ruston, and Michaelia Cash just condemned more than a million people to a life of poverty and punishment by cutting the existing rate of JobSeeker by $100 a fortnight – leaving the base rate at only $43.50 a day – and announced they will be increasing the number of payment suspensions and cancellations.
The cruelty is the point – and it’s why we need to fight back.
From March 16 to March 19, GetUp and our partners in the anti-poverty movement will be coordinating a week of action to Break the Poverty Machine – and we want you to be a part of it.
By RSVP’ing, you will receive updates during the week about how to take simple actions that, together, will expose, disrupt, and break the system of poverty that keeps unemployed people poor, punished, and out of work.
These will be digital actions that anyone can join, and you will be putting the heat on decision-makers to lift people out of poverty and dismantle the punitive systems that make life hard for people already doing it tough.
Can you RSVP today to stand up against cuts to income support and against punitive mutual obligations? What are the actions you can take part in?
Be the first to comment on "See you in Melbourne! Can you join the week of action too?"
