Sarah Wilkinson is a journalist who collects information about what is happening in Palestine and shares it online. On Thursday 29 August, 16 or 17 anti-terrorism police arrested her and ransacked her home. She is now effectively under house arrest.UK journalist under house arrest on terrorism charges

Her experience is an example of the deterioration of human rights now infecting many western nations, as the political establishment and power brokers become increasingly fearful of inconvenient news and opinion.

Sarah’s mistreatment took place in England. We should not feel safe in Australia. This is a trend here too. Cases of mistreatment at the hands of excessive policing are on the rise. More people are being targeted because of their views.

Sarah’s ordeal is a warning of what is in store unless enough people stand up and put a stop to it.
