Video: In memory of a Queensland fighter against Coal Seam Gas

Brian Linforth with Sue Crickitt at their Aldershot home
From the Lock The Gate Alliance, which has led a major campaign against the spread of coal seam gas mining through Australia.  Lock The Gate involves Indigenous Australians, farmers, city and country people, who come  together to face what they see as a common threat to the nation’s water supply and the health of human beings and the environment. On this occasion Lock The Gate pays tribute to an old fighter,, who refused to give in to the oil corporations.

Brian Linforth, of Aldershot Queensland, sadly passed away on 29 January 2017.

Brian was a man of integrity who showed great courage and commitment to his community despite his personal health battles.

For six years he fought to stop New Hope’s open cut Colton Coal mine and protect his community from its harmful impacts.

He never gave up. As long as he was able he fought hard for his community.

He will be missed by many in the region that love the Fraser Coast and Mary River.

He was a champion for his community and we hope that others step up to continue where he left off.
