From the Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU)
Construction is a dangerous industry to work in and people expect that matters of health and safety would be taken seriously and adequate standards enforced. The deaths indicate that this is not the case and government has turned a blind eye to it. For years now, advocates for safer workplaces have been calling for an industrial manslaughter law that would enable employers who negligently cause death to be charged with a serious crime.
We need to look at industrial manslaughter laws all over the country.
