Swedish student prevents the deportation of refugee to Afghanistan

Because an Afghan was supposed to be deported on a flight to Istanbul, activist Elin Ersson refused to sit down. What happens in the next minutes shakes everyone on board…

“There is a man who is going to get deported to Afghanistan, where he will most likely get killed,” she said in the video. “I’m not going to sit down until this person is off the plane.”

  1. This is a brilliant action that was well thought out, well done. It requires that many more people engage in such types of suitable direct action to prevent the gross abuses perpetrated by their governments. AUSTRALIA IS NO EXCEPTION.

    Yes. Deporting asylum seekers back to dangerous home countries is totally inhumane. Australia has deported people back to Afghanistan who are known to have later been murdered or imprisoned there! The only exception to this are extremists who commit or advocate violence against other individuals, or other ethnic/ religious groups, or advocate the oppression of women and / or girls.
