Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull had put his foot in his mouth yet again.

This time it’s about making fun of his supposedly good mate US president Donald Trump. Barely a month ago the Donald was described as family and now the man is has been presented, as the buffoon that the world has recognised for a long time.

Reportedly, Trump is not amused and there is speculation that the incident could cause a bit of a rift. Everyone know that the man sitting in the White house is a bit of a sensitive soul, who has a penchant for tweeting his hurt feelings.

So what happened? Two days ago journalists and politicians attended the annual Correspondent’s dinner in Canberra, where the prime minister was booked to give a speech.  Malcolm decided to try his hand at being a comedian, parodying Trump on stuff like opinion polls and the Russian connection.

“The Donald and I, we are winning and winning in the polls,” Turnbull said, imitating Trump’s manner of speaking. “We are winning so much. We are winning like we have never won before. We are winning in the polls. We are, we are. Not the fake polls, not the fake polls.”

Someone taped the effort and it is going viral on social media, after Laurie Oakes, who says he was not at the dinner, aired in on Channel 9.

At best, Turnbull’s antics can be described as monumental stupidity that will do nothing to raise his already low standing. It makes him look short of a full picnic.

No doubt there are those within the ranks of his government who are furious and sharpening their knives with a little bit more gusto now.

Turnbull might be passing this off as a bit of lighthearted fun.  Once again the prime minister has shown his special talent to undermine himself.
